First Lady of Alabama
Monday, March 3rd is Read Across America. Alabama's First Lady, Mrs. Diane Bentley will visit our school and read to grades K4-4th. We are very happy to have her come and expect the children to be on their best behavior!

Dr. Seuss Day
Read Across America is celebrated in honor of the famous children's author Dr. Seuss. We will celebrate his birthday and writings next week by reading some of his most popular books! The children can dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character on Wednesday, March 5th. This is optional.

Yearbooks on Sale Now!
YEARBOOKS WILL BE ON SALE MARCH 3RD-14TH FOR $50.00. The order is placed now and you will get your yearbook at the beginning of next school year. Please send money in a labeled ziploc.

About Mrs. Blackwell

This is my 6th year at PLA and I am excited to begin the 2013-2014 school year. I am from Montgomery, AL where I went to Jeff Davis High School and then came to Troy. I am a graduate of Troy University (GO TROJANS) where I got a degree in elementary education.(I also am a bigtime Auburn football fan!) I have a younger brother who went to Macon-East in Montgomery (I know...big PLA rival.) I was married to Josh Blackwell on December 12, 2009. He works in Montgomery at a medical drug distribution warehouse and as a football/baseballl coach at Macon East (I know...I know...). I had a little girl on July 6th, 2013. Her name is Laken Gray Blackwell. She was born a little early but is super duper healthy. She was born 5 1/2 weeks early and weighed 5 pounds and 12 ounces. She was 20 1/4 inches long. I am so in love with this little angel. I am so excited to begin this 2013-2014 school year. I know this will be a great year with this group of great kids.
