Reading Story Tests (The Kite)
We took our first test on our first story of the big hard back books today. They are in your child's folders. This is how I grade these tests. There are 10 questions and each one is worth 10 points. If a multiple choice question is missed, it is minus 10. The last 2 questions are written answers. They must be answered in complete sentences (which they have been doing all year long) or it is minus 10 points. If they write a word that they should know how to spell but misspell it, I count it as wrong and it is minus 1 point. If the word they are trying to spell is somewhere on the test, I expect them to look for it and spell it correctly. If they write a word that they did there best spelling out but is a word I wouldn't expect them to know how to spell, then I won't count off a point for it. I will take a point off for forgetting to capitalize and punctuate sentences. I told the kids all of this information as well. 

We go over vocabulary and ALL the questions on the test to prepare as well as reading the story multiple times. I was very pleased with their first test today. :-)

Valentine's Day Party
We will have a Valentine's party next Friday afternoon. It's short and sweet during our afternoon snack time. Those who signed up to bring snacks are:

Valentines
We will be decorating a bag for our valentines to go in. Your child may bring their valentines to put in the bag as soon as they finish them. Here is a list of our classmates:
