Responsibility for School Materials
Lately many students have been forgetting to do/bring homework back to school. They also have been forgetting their material such as: take-home folders, library books, reading books, pencils, etc. In 1st grade we are teaching responsibility and many times their excuse for forgetting these things is that their parents forgot to put it in their book bag. I tell them that these things aren't their parents things and that it is their responsibility to put them in their book bag and bring them back to school. I also tell them that getting their Graded Papers folder signed is their responsibility. They need to make sure they get a parent to sign it to let me know that it was seen. If these materials are forgotten, they get a strike. In the past I let them earn it back, but I am going to start not letting them earn the strikes back that they receive from forgetting school materials. We are working on being responsible and preparing for the 2nd grade. This will begin tomorrow!

Classwork/Homework
I give plenty of time for classwork throughout the day and if your child doesn't finish something or has to make something up, it is homework for them. Unless I send a note otherwise, it is expected to be returned, finished, the next school day. Sometimes I will send home "extra help" work on a Friday and I expect that to be returned on Monday.
